Classes in English at the UEx

Welcome to the UEx! We are pleased you are considering studying with us in Extremadura. 

As a part of the UEx’s internationalization drive, we offer a two-tiered program for non-linguistic subjects in foreign languages (FL) other than Spanish, in particular in English and Portuguese, where English is the most common.

These subjects in English are offered by participating faculty members, at two levels: Level 1 and Level 2. These allow international studies to work in the language they prefer, Spanish or English, or mixed. 

Level 1 means that the course lectures are partially offered in English or Portuguese, in that 6 class hours, or typically what is 10% of a 6 credit hour class, are done in this language, and the rest in Spanish. At the same time, all class materials, including resources, class presentations and evaluations are available in English or Portuguese, alongside office hours with the professor, so that the class can be followed by international students who choose this option. 

Level 2 means that the entire course is offered in English (all class lectures, materials, office hours, class presentations etc. are available in English), and that this course forms part of a set of 48 credits of courses available in one degree program, which are bundled together to create an English speciality.

Please note that course syllabi will be available shortly for these in this data base, but may already be available from each Faculty’s website from the Study Plan section.
